Organization Mission Statement
To address the nutritional needs of those experiencing food insecurity through the provision of no charge, daily, healthy, tasty meals, in a friendly and welcoming environment.
The organization serves the following population
While open to anyone, generally diners are homeless, street involved or live on limited income, and include all genders, youth, families, and seniors. Many of our diners have multiple barriers including physical and mental health challenges, addictions, and inadequate food storage or preparation facilities. The Kitchen is open 7 days a week, for 10 meals times and serves at least 50 diners at each meal. Since November 2020, with the support of 160 volunteers, 22,000 meals have been served to community members.
The funds donated will be used to
Food - The kitchen relies on donations from the FoodBank, grocery stores and bakeries. However it does not meet the demand. All food is purchased locally.
Small kitchen housewares - items that are necessary to run an efficient commercial cooking facility.
Food Safe Training - Volunteer cooks must complete Food Safe training prior to preparing meals. The training is $100.00 per person.
