The Salvation Army Ocean Crest Ministries

Organization Mission Statement

Ocean Crest Community Church exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in Campbell River and surrounding communities.

The organization serves the following population

We support people who are homeless and hungry; seniors, families, the working poor; those with mental health issues; and those who struggle with addictions.

The funds donated will be used to

If we are honoured with the donation we will use the funds towards our Family Services Food Bank and our Community Feeding Program. The Centre of Hope is located at 1381 Cedar Street. It is here that we serve the homeless, seniors and the working poor each day from Monday – Friday. We serve lunch, they have access for showers, laundry and a free clothing closet. We also host a free income tax clinic at our location from February - April and at our church office year-round.

We continue to see an increase in our food bank services and instead of families coming to the COH to access food hampers and pick them up, we are now taking their food hamper order over the phone which allows us to serve our guests more efficiently. We are having to stock our food bank shelves more frequently, to keep up with the demand. We are also trying to provide healthier options which come at a great cost to help the guests with trying to keep them as healthy as possible.

The organizations current sources of funding are

Thrift store, church donations and our Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign for our Community Feeding Programs. We rely on our donations as well from local grocery sotres and a local pizza shop.
