Upper Island Counselling Services Society

Organization Mission Statement

Caring for our clients, member companies, and communities with compassion, clinical expertise, and a commitment to overall health and wellness.

The organization serves the following population

Currently 82 companies and organizations on the upper island partner with us to provide a superior, community based, not for profit employee and family assistance program (EFAP) to their employees, their eligible family members, and retirees. At this time we serve over 4200 individuals and their families through our EFAP, and on average see over 450 new clients annually. Private professional counselling is also available to the public if they are unable to access our services through our EFAP.

The funds donated will be used to

Improve the mental health and wellness of our our community through education and awareness!!

At this point we offer excellent Health and Wellness Presentations to our member companies as part of their EFAP. If we were to receive a donation of $5000 we would host Mental Health and Wellness presentations that would be open to the community at no charge. This would allow community members the opportunity to participate in educational wellness presentations that are typically only accessible to a select group through their employer, or to people who can afford private workshops or retreats. We would love the opportunity to give back to our community in this way as they have supported our agency for almost 31 years! In an increasingly stressful society, attention to the mental health and wellness of all of us is more important than ever. Topics presented could include but are not limited to;

  1. Mental Health and Wellness in the Workplace.
  2. Achieving Work Life Balance
  3. Self care, and caring for the caregiver
  4. Mindfulness
  5. Healthy Communication Skills
  6. Health eating versus disordered eating habits
  7. Couples tune-up course
  8. Stress, anxiety, and what to do about it.
